Jurassic reserve

This collection of images is the direct consequence of the spring 2020 lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic. During this period, in France, we were only allowed to go out one hour per day within a radius of 1 km from our homes. I was fortunate enough to be able to visit the Nature Reserve of Hettange Grande while respecting these two constraints!

At that time, I had completely overlooked the photographic potential of this former sandstone quarry, only 6 hectares in size, after which the Hettangian, the oldest period of the Jurassic, was named. Having no other place to practice photography during the lockdown, I eventually ended up spending countless hours there, returning almost daily for several weeks, exploring every corner, studying the light at different times of the day, looking for the best angle for each subject... and making thousands of images.

Sometimes not having an option can end up being the best option. Had I had the possibility to move around farther, this collection would have probably never existed. I hope you will enjoy seeing the results of my unexpected romance with my illustrious neighbor, the Jurassic Reserve of Hettange-Grande!
